These are...interesting

Workout: 3.5 miles (speed work of 6 x 400 M repeats with 30 seconds rest between each)

Lately, my go-to evening snack has been cookies and milk.  I love love love a big glass of milk, and the second best thing to wash it down with is a cookie!  (The best thing is a Krispy Kreme donut!!)  Okay, so when you are trying to lose weight cookies aren't the best choice.  I've tried a few different "healthy" cookie recipes that were okay, but I haven't found one worth making again.  And then last week I saw this "healthy" cookie posted on facebook at least 3 times, and then I saw it on a foodie blog I follow.  Sooooooooo, I took it as a sign to try it!!

Have you heard of these Skinny Banana Cookies?  At first I was totally skeptical.  The cookie calls for 3 ingredients:  bananas, oats, and chocolate chips.  I had no clue how you made a cookie without flour, egg, and sugar, but I had to think SKINNY, be brave, and just try it.  Yes, brave, because those of you that know me well, know I do NOT like healthy food.

So here they are.  They definitely looked like a cookie so that was good.  Upon my first bite the only thought I had was - These are...interesting.  And then every bite after that I thought - hmmmm, interesting.  I ended up eating 5 so obviously I thought they were good.  But I wouldn't describe them as "good" cookies.  Weird, I know.  But, they were definitely worth making again.  In fact, I plan on making some more in the next few days.  They are great alternative to an oatmeal chocolate chip cookie.  And trust me when I say, if I liked them, then you will like them!!  You can find the recipe I tried here.  Enjoy!!

Workout:  8 miles/1:25:02 It takes 9 months to put the weight on, and it took 9 months and 6 days to get the weight off.  FINALLY!!!!!!  I am at my pre-Orlando weight.  I gained 40 whopping pounds during my second pregnancy, and I am ecstatic to say that I have now lost 41.  I worked extremely hard to get that darn baby weight off, and there were several times I didn't think I was going to be able to do it.  Thankfully, my determination won in the end.  I have expressed before on my blog that I am not a healthy eater.  Junk food is my good friend, and fruits and veggies are evil gross!! (Okay, not ALL fruits, but pretty much ALL veggies are evil.) So how did I do it?  I cut out a lot of carbs.  Not completely, but I closely monitored my carb intake.  I limited my Coke and McDonald's Sweet Tea splurges and tried to drink these sugary beverages only on weekends.  I discovered Crystal Light Pink Lemonade which I drink during th...

A little mommy rant!

Workout: HIIT download/2mile run Okay moms, I hate being bombarded in every parent's magazine and internet article about all these super star moms.  You know, the moms  that feed their kids organic food, only let their children play educational games, and make their two year old do service projects. You can judge and put your nose up in the air about me, but that is totally okay, because I judge you, too!!!   Seriously, I want to throw my greasy hamburger in their face and tell them to shove it.  My kids are awesome, healthy, happy, and enjoy life.  And I enjoy the things I do being their mom.  It is totally okay to: 1.   let my kids eat McDonald's french fries.  2.   let my children watch cartoons....right smack dab in front of the t.v.  3.  Allow them to drink  a late night polar pop!!  I believe this is Dr. Pepper. 4.  iPad games instead of story time at bed!! I don't care that these things...

Setting Goals

I'm always setting goals for myself.  Running goals, nutritional goals, cleaning goals, etc. (That last one is always a challenge.)  I set goals so I have something to work towards; an everyday challenge to conquer.  A couple of weeks ago I thought about what type of new goals I wanted to make.  I started by thinking of a running goal.  I needed something that would be challenging, yet achievable.  I decided I would challenge myself by trying to run at least 20 miles a week. Next, I wanted to set some nutritional goals.  Anyone close to me knows that I eat like crap.  Total crap!  In fact, I honestly can not remember the last time I had a piece of fruit.  I have just a few more pounds of baby weight to lose and I know eating better would definitely get it off.  So I set a goal to make wiser food choices and cut back on my snacking.  But late in the week I discovered a couple things about my goals. The first is, don't make ru...
