A Looooong Term Goal

Workout: Easy 2 miles - Race day tomorrow!

In October of '99 I ran my first and only marathon to date.  I ran the Chicago marathon two days after my 20th birthday, and it was AWFUL!!!  I hated pretty much every step from mile 13 on.  When I crossed the finish line I swore I would never do that again.  My marathon experience is the third most painful experience of my life!!  (It was the MOST painful experience for 8 years!!)  The MOST painful experience of my life is the birth of my daughter.  My labor with her was so awful I wanted to die.  I mean, no joke, the words "I want to die. Just kill me!!!" were yelled at my husband during my 4 hour pushing excursion. The second most painful experience of my life was the birth of my son.  Pretty much just as awful.  I still wanted to die, but I don't think I yelled at Matt, and thankfully the pain was a few less hours.

The day I came home with Lyla.

My little forceps baby, Orlando.

After experiencing childbirth I realized that running a marathon is a walk in the park!!  I mean, come on, my foot hurt!  Whoop-de-doo!!  Okay, my foot hurt A LOT, and I know that it was a painful experience, but I feel that after having children I can do anything!!  Like ANYTHING!  Like, I could run another marathon and it wouldn't be that bad.

SO, it is my goal to run another marathon by the time I am 40.  I would love to run one in the next few years, but that just isn't a realistic goal.  There is always the possibility of a third child within the next few years, and I don't want to start training and then end up prego!  When I know for sure we are done, as in, my husband has surgery, I will start to train.  It could be 2 years from now, 4, 6, I don't know.  But it will be by the time I turn 40!  So there it is, my loooong term running goal! :)  Short term running goal - have a good race tomorrow!!

Workout:  8 miles/1:25:02 It takes 9 months to put the weight on, and it took 9 months and 6 days to get the weight off.  FINALLY!!!!!!  I am at my pre-Orlando weight.  I gained 40 whopping pounds during my second pregnancy, and I am ecstatic to say that I have now lost 41.  I worked extremely hard to get that darn baby weight off, and there were several times I didn't think I was going to be able to do it.  Thankfully, my determination won in the end.  I have expressed before on my blog that I am not a healthy eater.  Junk food is my good friend, and fruits and veggies are evil gross!! (Okay, not ALL fruits, but pretty much ALL veggies are evil.) So how did I do it?  I cut out a lot of carbs.  Not completely, but I closely monitored my carb intake.  I limited my Coke and McDonald's Sweet Tea splurges and tried to drink these sugary beverages only on weekends.  I discovered Crystal Light Pink Lemonade which I drink during th...

Setting Goals

I'm always setting goals for myself.  Running goals, nutritional goals, cleaning goals, etc. (That last one is always a challenge.)  I set goals so I have something to work towards; an everyday challenge to conquer.  A couple of weeks ago I thought about what type of new goals I wanted to make.  I started by thinking of a running goal.  I needed something that would be challenging, yet achievable.  I decided I would challenge myself by trying to run at least 20 miles a week. Next, I wanted to set some nutritional goals.  Anyone close to me knows that I eat like crap.  Total crap!  In fact, I honestly can not remember the last time I had a piece of fruit.  I have just a few more pounds of baby weight to lose and I know eating better would definitely get it off.  So I set a goal to make wiser food choices and cut back on my snacking.  But late in the week I discovered a couple things about my goals. The first is, don't make ru...

A little mommy rant!

Workout: HIIT download/2mile run Okay moms, I hate being bombarded in every parent's magazine and internet article about all these super star moms.  You know, the moms  that feed their kids organic food, only let their children play educational games, and make their two year old do service projects. You can judge and put your nose up in the air about me, but that is totally okay, because I judge you, too!!!   Seriously, I want to throw my greasy hamburger in their face and tell them to shove it.  My kids are awesome, healthy, happy, and enjoy life.  And I enjoy the things I do being their mom.  It is totally okay to: 1.   let my kids eat McDonald's french fries.  2.   let my children watch cartoons....right smack dab in front of the t.v.  3.  Allow them to drink  a late night polar pop!!  I believe this is Dr. Pepper. 4.  iPad games instead of story time at bed!! I don't care that these things...
