Run 101 5K

Workout:  POP: Pilates Total Body Workout and POP: Pilates Butt Blaster

I love racing!  Love, love, love it!!  And I love it even more when you expect 40 degree running weather but get 65!  Woohoo!!  Last Saturday I ran in the Run 101 5K at ICC to support student scholarships.

This was pre-race.  I love having my whole family at races to support me, and Lyla is the BEST cheerleader.  Sometimes I just want to run over and kiss her in the middle of the race!  And can I just say how freaking huge my forerunner looks in this picture!!!  It might be time to use my virtual stay at home mom salary to buy this beauty!!

This is right at mile 1 - 7:37.  I felt really good here.  I mean, I am smiling at this point.  But as soon as I started mile 2 things got sluggish and it took me a long time to figure out why.  Mile 2 was 85% uphill. One of those long gradual climbs.  REALLY struggled to pull off a 7:57.  The last mile was flat, but windy, windy, windy.  I think this mile was 7:41.

I got a nice little gift certificate for getting first in my age division.  I plan on using it towards some new running shoes.

Final results:

23:41 - 7:42 pace

14/95 overall
6/62 woman - Holy cow!  Women took over this event!!  And three of the women that beat me were skinny teenagers.

Extremely small race, but it was an inaugural event.  Looking forward to racing it again next year.

Workout:  8 miles/1:25:02 It takes 9 months to put the weight on, and it took 9 months and 6 days to get the weight off.  FINALLY!!!!!!  I am at my pre-Orlando weight.  I gained 40 whopping pounds during my second pregnancy, and I am ecstatic to say that I have now lost 41.  I worked extremely hard to get that darn baby weight off, and there were several times I didn't think I was going to be able to do it.  Thankfully, my determination won in the end.  I have expressed before on my blog that I am not a healthy eater.  Junk food is my good friend, and fruits and veggies are evil gross!! (Okay, not ALL fruits, but pretty much ALL veggies are evil.) So how did I do it?  I cut out a lot of carbs.  Not completely, but I closely monitored my carb intake.  I limited my Coke and McDonald's Sweet Tea splurges and tried to drink these sugary beverages only on weekends.  I discovered Crystal Light Pink Lemonade which I drink during th...

Setting Goals

I'm always setting goals for myself.  Running goals, nutritional goals, cleaning goals, etc. (That last one is always a challenge.)  I set goals so I have something to work towards; an everyday challenge to conquer.  A couple of weeks ago I thought about what type of new goals I wanted to make.  I started by thinking of a running goal.  I needed something that would be challenging, yet achievable.  I decided I would challenge myself by trying to run at least 20 miles a week. Next, I wanted to set some nutritional goals.  Anyone close to me knows that I eat like crap.  Total crap!  In fact, I honestly can not remember the last time I had a piece of fruit.  I have just a few more pounds of baby weight to lose and I know eating better would definitely get it off.  So I set a goal to make wiser food choices and cut back on my snacking.  But late in the week I discovered a couple things about my goals. The first is, don't make ru...

A little mommy rant!

Workout: HIIT download/2mile run Okay moms, I hate being bombarded in every parent's magazine and internet article about all these super star moms.  You know, the moms  that feed their kids organic food, only let their children play educational games, and make their two year old do service projects. You can judge and put your nose up in the air about me, but that is totally okay, because I judge you, too!!!   Seriously, I want to throw my greasy hamburger in their face and tell them to shove it.  My kids are awesome, healthy, happy, and enjoy life.  And I enjoy the things I do being their mom.  It is totally okay to: 1.   let my kids eat McDonald's french fries.  2.   let my children watch cartoons....right smack dab in front of the t.v.  3.  Allow them to drink  a late night polar pop!!  I believe this is Dr. Pepper. 4.  iPad games instead of story time at bed!! I don't care that these things...
