Beginning a Tradition

Workout:  Pop Pilates legs, butt, and abs.  3 miles easy.

After hitting snooze twice I finally managed to drag my butt out of bed and get a good workout in.  I'm glad I did because early morning running is always the prettiest!!

Yes, Christmas was weeks ago, but I still want to share:)  This year our little family spent Christmas Eve and Christmas morning at home.  Matt and I wanted to start some of our own traditions for the kids.  We talked for quite a few weeks about what we wanted to do since this is what we are going to do every single year FOR THE REST OF OUR LIVES!!!

And our big grand plan was......

Dinner and then drive around and look at Christmas lights!  This may seem boring, but we didn't have just any dinner.  We had IHOP!!  Lyla thinks it is soooo cool to have breakfast for dinner.  And I have no clue why, but IHOP makes me think of Christmas.  Maybe because in The Santa Claus they eat at Denny's which is similar.  Our food was good, they kids were well behaved, and to our lucky surprise - kids eat free on Mondays!!

Afterwards we drove around El Paso and found a Christmas light show!  They played some really fun music.  Our favorite:  Dueling Jingle Bells!!!  Gangnam Style was a close second!

It was a fun fun evening and I will be looking forward to doing this again next year!

Workout:  8 miles/1:25:02 It takes 9 months to put the weight on, and it took 9 months and 6 days to get the weight off.  FINALLY!!!!!!  I am at my pre-Orlando weight.  I gained 40 whopping pounds during my second pregnancy, and I am ecstatic to say that I have now lost 41.  I worked extremely hard to get that darn baby weight off, and there were several times I didn't think I was going to be able to do it.  Thankfully, my determination won in the end.  I have expressed before on my blog that I am not a healthy eater.  Junk food is my good friend, and fruits and veggies are evil gross!! (Okay, not ALL fruits, but pretty much ALL veggies are evil.) So how did I do it?  I cut out a lot of carbs.  Not completely, but I closely monitored my carb intake.  I limited my Coke and McDonald's Sweet Tea splurges and tried to drink these sugary beverages only on weekends.  I discovered Crystal Light Pink Lemonade which I drink during th...

Setting Goals

I'm always setting goals for myself.  Running goals, nutritional goals, cleaning goals, etc. (That last one is always a challenge.)  I set goals so I have something to work towards; an everyday challenge to conquer.  A couple of weeks ago I thought about what type of new goals I wanted to make.  I started by thinking of a running goal.  I needed something that would be challenging, yet achievable.  I decided I would challenge myself by trying to run at least 20 miles a week. Next, I wanted to set some nutritional goals.  Anyone close to me knows that I eat like crap.  Total crap!  In fact, I honestly can not remember the last time I had a piece of fruit.  I have just a few more pounds of baby weight to lose and I know eating better would definitely get it off.  So I set a goal to make wiser food choices and cut back on my snacking.  But late in the week I discovered a couple things about my goals. The first is, don't make ru...

A little mommy rant!

Workout: HIIT download/2mile run Okay moms, I hate being bombarded in every parent's magazine and internet article about all these super star moms.  You know, the moms  that feed their kids organic food, only let their children play educational games, and make their two year old do service projects. You can judge and put your nose up in the air about me, but that is totally okay, because I judge you, too!!!   Seriously, I want to throw my greasy hamburger in their face and tell them to shove it.  My kids are awesome, healthy, happy, and enjoy life.  And I enjoy the things I do being their mom.  It is totally okay to: 1.   let my kids eat McDonald's french fries.  2.   let my children watch cartoons....right smack dab in front of the t.v.  3.  Allow them to drink  a late night polar pop!!  I believe this is Dr. Pepper. 4.  iPad games instead of story time at bed!! I don't care that these things...
