Where is the Love?

Workout: Hoping to run this evening!

As many of you know I had to fly solo with my two little ones down to Florida.  I knew it would be awful.   I knew it, knew it, knew it!!  I won't give you every agonizing detail, but I will tell you the parts that made me want to punch people in the face!

After waiting in the world's smallest airport for 4 hours I finally started making my way through security.  I have 3 carry on bags, a diaper bag, a 3 year old, and a 1 year old.  One of my bags falls over, and the family behind me....a family of 3 ADULTS looks right at me, ALL THREE OF THEM, and go around me!  You have got to be kidding me??  No offers to pick up the bag.  No offers to put my heavy luggage on the belt.  Not one ounce of help through security from ANYONE.  I pick the bag up, get it with the other 3 bags on, take off Lyla's shoes, tell her about 100 times to stay next to mommy or get up off the floor, get my shoes off, find my license, and get through.  With no help.  Once I'm through, I have to get all the heavy bags off with Orlando in one arm, Lyla is starting to run around, people are shoving past me, being COMPLETELY RUDE, and I'm trying not to burst into tears.

A few hours and a few tantrums later (by both children), we have finally landed.  I am in row 5 so exiting should be easy...or so I think.  I have a screaming baby in one arm, and a sleeping 3 year old over my shoulder.  And guess what??  People just plow right past me and don't let me out.  Oh my gosh, people!!  Where is the love?  All you awful people are really lucky that feisty Olivia is not out haunting tonight because let me tell you, I can be a serious witch!!!!!  (Oh, my family is all laughing and saying,  "Oooooh yeah!".)  I finally have to be ruthless and shove my way out into the aisle.

Throughout this whole trip I had one person offer to help me out.  An old lady.  Yup!  She was probably about 70.  The only decent kind human being traveling that day was a 70 year old woman.    Thank you soooo much stranger for helping me with my kids and bags while waiting to board the flight :)

Thankfully, I have a wonderful husband who had  the most marvelous surprise waiting for me in the car.
And everyone, please, please, please be kind to women traveling alone with children :)

  2. Oh my word, I would not have survived! One time we were at the Fort Meyers airport, Nelson just used the bathroom and Makayla took off running. I was 6 months pregnant, carrying Hannah and trying to run after Makayla. Nelson was only gone 5 minutes and I was in tears when he got back (c: You should be proud of yourself for being so strong!

  3. I am so very sorry. Glad to hear you survived and seem to be enjoying Florida now that you're there. How does Lyla like it?

Summer Races

Workout:  3 miles easy - 100% humidity and dew point of 76!!  UGH!! Since fall is here in just a few days I thought I should throw my summer races up on the blog while it is still officially summer!!;) I was pumped about my summer races.  I had a good workout plan in my mind, and I was going to break 23 minutes!!  I was so determined!  Well, I thought I was so determined.  But, I guess I wasn't that  determined because things fell apart pretty quick.  There was vacation, and then our cruise, and then traveling up to Illinois.  And although I could have run during all these events, well,  I didn't.  OOPS!! Fisher Fair 5k I ran this race with my brother, and this was his first race in 20 years!!  It was really cool to run it with him, and to see him get back into running.  I actually only ran "with him" for about 7 steps, and then he took off. Mile 1 -7:34  Yeah, way too fast.  I'm actually pretty good a...

A little mommy rant!

Workout: HIIT download/2mile run Okay moms, I hate being bombarded in every parent's magazine and internet article about all these super star moms.  You know, the moms  that feed their kids organic food, only let their children play educational games, and make their two year old do service projects. You can judge and put your nose up in the air about me, but that is totally okay, because I judge you, too!!!   Seriously, I want to throw my greasy hamburger in their face and tell them to shove it.  My kids are awesome, healthy, happy, and enjoy life.  And I enjoy the things I do being their mom.  It is totally okay to: 1.   let my kids eat McDonald's french fries.  2.   let my children watch cartoons....right smack dab in front of the t.v.  3.  Allow them to drink  a late night polar pop!!  I believe this is Dr. Pepper. 4.  iPad games instead of story time at bed!! I don't care that these things...

Workout:  Shredding (cardio and weights) from Lindsay Brin -  Moms Into Fitness YAY!!!  I finally ran a race in 2015.  As much as I wasn't feeling it I knew I needed to get my butt out there and race once again.  I kept trying to creep my way out of the race - I don't have time, I'm not in shape, etc., but my husband was very insistent that I run.  I appreciate him for that! Pre Race Oh my word!  It was awful.  Orlando cried the entire time we were in the car because he wanted to go back to bed.  Listening to crying for 35 minutes first thing in the morning is torture!  Then, when we got to the race the parking lot was 1.4 miles away from the park!!  With 2 small children that is....well, not ideal.  They had 1 shuttle going back and forth, and the line to that was a mile long.  I still had to pick up my race packet and knew there was no way I would make it in time!  Thankfully, we had the stroller in the trunk ...
