What's Loaded on the iPod?

Workout:  3 mile tempo

Matt and I got a 2 month membership to the local "fitness center".  It is just the high school fitness center, but they open it to the public in the morning and evening.  So I head over the other evening to jump on the treadmill, begin digging in my pockets, and I can't find my iPod!!  And this is what happens.  I panic.  I don't know if I can do this.  I really don't know if I can run on this machine without any music.  Okay, I can do this.  I will just think about things - life, to-do lists, races I want to run.  I made it .3 miles.  And those .3 miles were torture!!!  Oh my gosh!  How do people run without music?

Here are some of the new tunes that get me going and make running fun!

1.  Nicki Minaj - Va Va Voom - And can I just say I think she is a better judge than Mariah Carey!
2.  Justin Bieber - Beauty and a Beat - You have to admit, this kid makes great workout songs!
3.  Maroon 5 - Daylight - Love this one for my warm up.
4.  Alex Goot - How to Save a Life - I just discovered this guy on YouTube and this version is soooo much better than the original.
5.  Pop Danthology 2012 - This is a mashup of the top hits from 2012.  I LOVE IT!!!  If you like pop music click on the title and watch the video.  It is super cool.

Hoping to get a few more new tunes in the next few weeks, too!!

Summer Races

Workout:  3 miles easy - 100% humidity and dew point of 76!!  UGH!! Since fall is here in just a few days I thought I should throw my summer races up on the blog while it is still officially summer!!;) I was pumped about my summer races.  I had a good workout plan in my mind, and I was going to break 23 minutes!!  I was so determined!  Well, I thought I was so determined.  But, I guess I wasn't that  determined because things fell apart pretty quick.  There was vacation, and then our cruise, and then traveling up to Illinois.  And although I could have run during all these events, well,  I didn't.  OOPS!! Fisher Fair 5k I ran this race with my brother, and this was his first race in 20 years!!  It was really cool to run it with him, and to see him get back into running.  I actually only ran "with him" for about 7 steps, and then he took off. Mile 1 -7:34  Yeah, way too fast.  I'm actually pretty good a...

A little mommy rant!

Workout: HIIT download/2mile run Okay moms, I hate being bombarded in every parent's magazine and internet article about all these super star moms.  You know, the moms  that feed their kids organic food, only let their children play educational games, and make their two year old do service projects. You can judge and put your nose up in the air about me, but that is totally okay, because I judge you, too!!!   Seriously, I want to throw my greasy hamburger in their face and tell them to shove it.  My kids are awesome, healthy, happy, and enjoy life.  And I enjoy the things I do being their mom.  It is totally okay to: 1.   let my kids eat McDonald's french fries.  2.   let my children watch cartoons....right smack dab in front of the t.v.  3.  Allow them to drink  a late night polar pop!!  I believe this is Dr. Pepper. 4.  iPad games instead of story time at bed!! I don't care that these things...

Harbour Heights 5K review

Workout:  Shredding (cardio and weights) from Lindsay Brin -  Moms Into Fitness YAY!!!  I finally ran a race in 2015.  As much as I wasn't feeling it I knew I needed to get my butt out there and race once again.  I kept trying to creep my way out of the race - I don't have time, I'm not in shape, etc., but my husband was very insistent that I run.  I appreciate him for that! Pre Race Oh my word!  It was awful.  Orlando cried the entire time we were in the car because he wanted to go back to bed.  Listening to crying for 35 minutes first thing in the morning is torture!  Then, when we got to the race the parking lot was 1.4 miles away from the park!!  With 2 small children that is....well, not ideal.  They had 1 shuttle going back and forth, and the line to that was a mile long.  I still had to pick up my race packet and knew there was no way I would make it in time!  Thankfully, we had the stroller in the trunk ...
