My First Project

Workout: 3 mile run Heard of  Pinterest ?  I'm sure most of you have, but for the few of you that haven't, WARNING:  it is addictive!  I don't have much up yet on my boards, but before I got carried away and went crazy pinning I decided to actually make  something I found. I absolutely loved the way it turned out!!  I just used an old blanket for the backdrop which makes it easy to fold up and put away, and we painted some rocks for the throwing pieces.   Mine isn't quite as fancy as the one I found, and I later realized that 1 and 2 are vertical, 3 and 4 horizontal, etc.  However, my 3 year old has no clue, could care less, and LOVES to play!!

A Nightmare Come True

Workout: 4 miles/35:01 This run was suppose to be special.  I had waited all week to go running down one of the most gorgeous roads in FL.  I was excited, yes EXCITED, to head out and just run for about and hour while looking at views of the ocean, gorgeous palm trees, and magnificent houses. I was looking the complete opposite of  Frumpy Runner ; sporting my brand new running outfit that I basically got for free at the Addidas outlet.  My trusty Garmin was charged, I looked good, and it wasn't too hot yet.  This was going to be awesome!! My journey began here.   Those of you that are friends with me on FB may recognize this picture.  I had just got to Bonita Springs Beach.  At this point I am having a runner's high, and I haven't even started running yet.  Little did I know this high would only last about 3/4 a mile.  I set out for my jog along the beach thinking it would be fun listening to the water, but my legs didn't think this was so much fun.  After a measly

Funnel Cakes

Workout: Weights/20 min. run I like to eat junk all the time, but I try to save the real unhealthy stuff for the weekends; it gives me something to look forward to.  I consider a funnel cake to be on the real unhealthy list.  These things are in a whole different category than say, Doritos and Coke.  When I found a funnel cake recipe on   The Pioneer Woman  blog I new it was a MUST MAKE! The batter consisted of everything you would have in your house: flour, milk, eggs, sugar, sugar, sugar....oh my gosh, SO. MUCH. SUGAR.  And may I say yay!! to having a baby around because whole milk was on hand. This was the only hard part.  Not pouring the batter, but the spewing HOT oil.  I burnt myself within 5 seconds and chose to look like a dork and wear a potholder to cover my hand and wrist.  Gosh, now that I'm looking at that hideous potholder maybe purchasing a cutsie one isn't a bad idea.  You know, so people can read my blog and say, ooh, that potholder is so cute!  I want one

Labor Day Fun

Workout: None (Ugh!  No self-discipline this week.) We tried out a new beach for our Labor Day Fun.  We went to Lover's Key State Park, and a tram takes you right up to the water (otherwise quite a hike from the parking lot).  Lyla loved this part. The red flags were out flying due to strong winds and powerful rip currents.  We didn't let Lyla get in too far so Matt had to go play by himself.  He had a blast!! Lyla wasn't too bummed she couldn't swim.  There were shells galore and she just loved collecting them,  and then burying them. Orlando had fun digging in the sand, too!  He was so good considering he was confined to just a beach blanket. I went out a little farther than this but not much.   I prefer to play it safe when I see red flags! It is truly awesome being so close to the beach.  We immediately fell in love with this one, but we still have many yet to explore.
