A Piece of "Old" America

Workout: None Last week Lyla and I headed to our last play date with the MOPS group I am a part of.  Knowing I most likely won't be in this neck of the woods for a long while (if ever) I decided to take the back road that I ALWAYS have said I am going to do sometime (okay, and watching Cars  about 15 times this year also gave me a little motivation).  We headed out for our play date by taking that "Old" American road, Route 66. I'm totally dorky, I know, but I felt sooooo cool driving this road.  I mean I REALLY felt cool.  There wasn't anything exciting around me, and the scenery was the exact same thing I would have seen on I-55, but this road has history!! I knew that it would take me a tad longer to get to my destination, but what I didn't know was I was going to be stuck behind one of the original cool cats who got to enjoy this route back in its prime. He had to of been at least 85, and he was only going about 20 mph.  Of course there was a lot of t

An Enjoyable Evening Out

Workout: 2.5 mile run, easy pace After a few hectic and stressful days we thought it would be a good idea to go out for a nice family dinner.  No cooking or cleaning up for me sounded great and some hot food rather than sandwiches was just what we needed.  We were in such great spirits as we headed into Bloomington, and we were really looking forward to someone serving us :)  We decided on Outback since we had a gift card. Within seconds of sitting down Orlando gets fussy.  Not off to a good start especially since he's the easy one.  We give him crackers, he throws them on the floor.  We try animal crackers - floor.  Next some warm bread - floor.  Meanwhile, Lyla is jumping on the seat of the booth.  We tell her to stop, and she laughs.  We tell her to stop again - she jumps higher.  We tell her a third time - she takes off her shoes and throws them into the aisle.  Matt sternly has some words for Lyla, and her shoes go back on. Now she has to go the bathroom.  Enter bathroom s

Birthday Boy!

Workout: None Saturday, July 2 we celebrated Orlando's first birthday! Awww, look at that sweaty messy hair!  We had the party in the evening, but it was still blazing hot.  We took Orlando inside every once in while to help him cool off. He did a great job with his cupcake eating almost the enitre thing! And when it was time for presents he clapped after opening every gift :)  Well, I opened the gifts and showed them to him, and he clapped when he saw them.  Too precious! It was great fun, and thank you to everyone who came out to help us celebrate!

Making Faces

Workout: Technically none, but I literally cleaned the house for 8 hours today which should count for something! Every time I get out my camera Lyla wants to make a silly face.  Every. Time.  Silly silly girl!
