Life Here and There

Workout: None This was a few weeks ago at the Naples Zoo.  I don't even know what animal it is, but it must be pretty interesting! Easter egg hunt  gathering at church.  This was not a hunt in any way.  The eggs were spread all over the lawn. Visiting the Butterfly Estates in downtown Ft. Myers. Lyla, oh, Lyla.  Do you really think jumping on the bed is acceptable during time out?  I marched that little girls booty to this chair!! The girl has mad skills!  Seriously!!  She holds the putter correctly, stands nicely, and even got a hole in 1.  She also got several 3s!!  Making daddy proud, that one!

Will Run For Food

Workout:  3 miles easy/strength training What would you do for a plate of nachos?  Chicken nachos with oozing cheese, fresh tomatoes, onions, and sour cream is one of our favorite dinners.  I had everything all set to go when I looked in the cabinet and realized I forgot to buy the Tostidos!  Normally I wouldn't panic, but we had lent our car to a friend for the day.  She wasn't going to be back until late.  Matt and I talked for a few minutes about a back up plan, but both of us really wanted nachos.  Then, it hit me.  Um, hello?  I'm a runner.  A pretty quick runner.  And the grocery store is about 3 minutes away in a car.  I told him I'd just throw on my running shoes, and I could be there in about 10 minutes. And people think running is just for exercise!  Ha!  You never know when an emergency Tostido run will become necessary! Then I threw a block of ice on my knee and got a serious blister!  Oops, I didn't put anything between the ice and my skin.  That wa

Spring Break

Workout:  eliptical - 30 minutes/ treadmill -  8x1 minute hard run (6:58 pace) with 1 minute rest between sets/ strength training So what do you do for spring break when you already live in a tropical place?  Well, the answer is not really a whole lot.  We went swimming a lot, but I do that with the kids everyday already.  We went to the park, but again, take the kids there often.  I guess the only thing different was that daddy was home to do all these things with us!! Here is a little snippet from our day at the park!! Every day Lyla asked Matt, "Why aren't you going to work today?"  :)  Man will she be confused when summer comes!!

My Little Runner

Workout:  None I signed Lyla up for her very first race!!!  This girl is a ball of energy and I knew she could easily handle a 100 yard dash.  The entry was only $10, and she got a t-shirt, goody bag, official race bib, and a medal.  Here she is mid-race.  I was at the starting line with her so I couldn't see well.  But, Matt said she was smiling the entire way!  She has pretty good running form for a 3 year old! As soon as she crossed the finish line she got the medal put around her neck.  Lyla wouldn't stop smiling.  It was so precious!!  She has been asking me since Friday to find another race for her to run.  So, of course, I will!!

Twilight 5K

Workout:  None Another 5K is done and in the books.  I wasn't disappointed in how I ran, but I was disappointed in my lack of training.  I guess frustrated with my training is a better word.  See, I have been doing  A LOT of icing lately.  My knee is hurting pretty bad.  It has been hurting within my first few strides of a run so training has been pretty minimal.  Anyway,  it was an evening race which I hate for one reason....eating.  I don't eat before morning races.  But when your race starts at 6:30 p.m. you have to eat a little something.  So I chose this: The southwest chicken salad from Chik-Fil-A.  It was really good...highly recommend it!  And it settled in my stomach pretty well, too! :) Pre-race was crazy!  The kids were a handful, and there wasn't a whole lot for them to do.  We tried to get some photos, but....  Lyla wouldn't cooperate! And then when she did.... Orlando got grumpy!  Thanks kids for the fabulous pictures!! The race started on time (
