About Me

I started this blog for me.  I want to keep myself accountable for my running and make sure that it stays a priority in my life.  I'm a stay at home mom to two children.  Lyla is six and Orlando is four.  Most of my days consist of feeding them, cleaning up the kitchen, throw in a chore or two, and then start the whole process over.  My dear husband, Matt, helps me out a ton in the evenings, and he always makes sure I have  time to get out the door for a run.  In addition to running I love to bake, be crafty, read, and travel.  My guilty pleasures include watching reality television on E!, eating chips, and drinking tons of iced coffee and sweet tea from McDonalds!

A little mommy rant!

Workout: HIIT download/2mile run Okay moms, I hate being bombarded in every parent's magazine and internet article about all these super star moms.  You know, the moms  that feed their kids organic food, only let their children play educational games, and make their two year old do service projects. You can judge and put your nose up in the air about me, but that is totally okay, because I judge you, too!!!   Seriously, I want to throw my greasy hamburger in their face and tell them to shove it.  My kids are awesome, healthy, happy, and enjoy life.  And I enjoy the things I do being their mom.  It is totally okay to: 1.   let my kids eat McDonald's french fries.  2.   let my children watch cartoons....right smack dab in front of the t.v.  3.  Allow them to drink  a late night polar pop!!  I believe this is Dr. Pepper. 4.  iPad games instead of story time at bed!! I don't care that these things...

These are...interesting

Workout: 3.5 miles (speed work of 6 x 400 M repeats with 30 seconds rest between each) Lately, my go-to evening snack has been cookies and milk.  I love love love a big glass of milk, and the second best thing to wash it down with is a cookie!  (The best thing is a Krispy Kreme donut!!)  Okay, so when you are trying to lose weight cookies aren't the best choice.  I've tried a few different "healthy" cookie recipes that were okay, but I haven't found one worth making again.  And then last week I saw this "healthy" cookie posted on facebook at least 3 times, and then I saw it on a foodie blog I follow.  Sooooooooo, I took it as a sign to try it!! Have you heard of these Skinny Banana Cookies?  At first I was totally skeptical.  The cookie calls for 3 ingredients:  bananas, oats, and chocolate chips.  I had no clue how you made a cookie without flour, egg, and sugar, but I had to think SKINNY, be brave, and just try it.  Yes, brave...

Rodeo and Running

Workout: Workout video - Back and Biceps; Pop Pilates  Abs on Fire  - I highly recommend this video for a serious kick butt ab workout!!  13 minutes of pure torture!! The Rodeo So there's this huge rodeo every year in my hometown.  It's kind of a big deal, but I never bothered to go.  As a kid I didn't go because my parents didn't take us.  And as a young adult I never went because I thought it sounded totally lame.  On a last minute whim I decided to take my daughter.  All her cousins were going, and you know, I couldn't let her be all left out.  It turns out this rodeo is the coolest thing ever!!  I can't believe my parents didn't take us when we were younger.  Such great family fun!!  And such true patriotism showed here!  It restored my faith in Americans!!  Ahhhh, the good 'ole Midwest!:)  Of course I got suckered into a hat.  I let her get the same one as her cousin.  It lights up, a...
