A Trip to the Farmer's Market

Workout: None, but I did run 40 minutes yesterday which is my longest run since September!!!

On this gorgeous February day the girls of the house decided to take a trip to the Tijuana of southwest Florida - Immokalee.  It is a small city out in the middle of nowhere that is made up of mostly migrant workers.  They have the most AMAZING farmer's market every Saturday.  And now if anyone visits I will be sure to take them there.  It's a pretty fun experience, and the fresh fruit and veggies are to die for!!

Okay, sorry about the glare on the first picture.  But check this out - those gigantoid green peppers were only 20 cents a piece!  The strawberries, which were just picked this morning, were only $13 for that entire box.  The perfectly red and gorgeous looking tomatoes - 6 bucks for the entire box.  And Lyla is saying, "One dollar baby!!", about the price of that onion.  We also bought pineapple, butternut squash, garlic, and oranges.  After shopping we got some authentic mexican at a tiny hole in the wall place.  And when we got home we made strawberry muffins.  Lyla lined up the berries we would need for the recipe :)
I had to zoom in on this so you could see the size of these babies!!   Tomorrow we are making strawberry salsa.  YUM!!!  I can't wait to go back!

Workout:  8 miles/1:25:02 It takes 9 months to put the weight on, and it took 9 months and 6 days to get the weight off.  FINALLY!!!!!!  I am at my pre-Orlando weight.  I gained 40 whopping pounds during my second pregnancy, and I am ecstatic to say that I have now lost 41.  I worked extremely hard to get that darn baby weight off, and there were several times I didn't think I was going to be able to do it.  Thankfully, my determination won in the end.  I have expressed before on my blog that I am not a healthy eater.  Junk food is my good friend, and fruits and veggies are evil gross!! (Okay, not ALL fruits, but pretty much ALL veggies are evil.) So how did I do it?  I cut out a lot of carbs.  Not completely, but I closely monitored my carb intake.  I limited my Coke and McDonald's Sweet Tea splurges and tried to drink these sugary beverages only on weekends.  I discovered Crystal Light Pink Lemonade which I drink during the week instead.  I stopped buying chips....complete

Setting Goals

I'm always setting goals for myself.  Running goals, nutritional goals, cleaning goals, etc. (That last one is always a challenge.)  I set goals so I have something to work towards; an everyday challenge to conquer.  A couple of weeks ago I thought about what type of new goals I wanted to make.  I started by thinking of a running goal.  I needed something that would be challenging, yet achievable.  I decided I would challenge myself by trying to run at least 20 miles a week. Next, I wanted to set some nutritional goals.  Anyone close to me knows that I eat like crap.  Total crap!  In fact, I honestly can not remember the last time I had a piece of fruit.  I have just a few more pounds of baby weight to lose and I know eating better would definitely get it off.  So I set a goal to make wiser food choices and cut back on my snacking.  But late in the week I discovered a couple things about my goals. The first is, don't make running goals in the dead of winter.   Especially wh

Pregnancy, Fitness, and Food

Workout:  None...yet.  But I might later.  Which is what I've been saying everyday for about the past 3 weeks!!! Hey, you all!!!!!  Guess who decided to reappear?!?!  And guess what I've been up to?  Just cooking up a little boy in this belly of mine! So, I'm 30 weeks pregnant, (31 according to the docs, but whatever) and NOTHING has gone as planned.  And when I say NOTHING I am referring to diet and exercise.  First, I had plans of running as long as I could.  My goal was to run to at least 32 - 34 weeks pregnant.  I made it to 6 weeks, folks.    6 WEEKS!!!  Then, the morning sickness hit, and it hit hard!!!!  I was sick all day and all night.  I was so crazy miserable.  And it didn't go away at the end of the first trimester.  It lasted a good 18 weeks!  Once I started feeling better I decided to just work on staying toned.  I was in the gym lifting weights about 3 days a week.  And that lasted an entire month!! That was a good month.  Pretty much the on
