Winter Running

Workout: 2 miles easy.  Pop Pilates: Total Body Workout

I can't stand winter running.  Freezing temps, unbearable wind, icy roads.  And let's not forget the layers.

Layers!!!  Oh, and my new Nike smart touch running gloves - LOVE!!

Running in 3 layers just plain stinks!   Once in a while my body will warm up and I will feel good, but lately I've been freezing the entire run!!  The last few days I've been trying to decide what my limit is temperature wise.  Rarely do I think it is too cold to run.  You just suck it up and go!  However, the other day my body refused to warm up causing my hamstrings to get super tight resulting in extremely sore muscles for the next 3 days.  So, I've decided to make a temperature cap.  The magic number is 15.  Perhaps I'm becoming a wimp in my old age, but now that I think of it, this is the first year in a while I haven't had access to a treadmill.  So I've always had option B.  Now option B is stay inside my nice cozy home and hope tomorrow brings a little warmer weather!

  1. I don't think I've ever run in weather below 25 degrees! And those were tough for me. Your kids seem like the best layers to keep warm, I will borrow them next time ;)

Summer Races

Workout:  3 miles easy - 100% humidity and dew point of 76!!  UGH!! Since fall is here in just a few days I thought I should throw my summer races up on the blog while it is still officially summer!!;) I was pumped about my summer races.  I had a good workout plan in my mind, and I was going to break 23 minutes!!  I was so determined!  Well, I thought I was so determined.  But, I guess I wasn't that  determined because things fell apart pretty quick.  There was vacation, and then our cruise, and then traveling up to Illinois.  And although I could have run during all these events, well,  I didn't.  OOPS!! Fisher Fair 5k I ran this race with my brother, and this was his first race in 20 years!!  It was really cool to run it with him, and to see him get back into running.  I actually only ran "with him" for about 7 steps, and then he took off. Mile 1 -7:34  Yeah, way too fast.  I'm actually pretty good a...

A little mommy rant!

Workout: HIIT download/2mile run Okay moms, I hate being bombarded in every parent's magazine and internet article about all these super star moms.  You know, the moms  that feed their kids organic food, only let their children play educational games, and make their two year old do service projects. You can judge and put your nose up in the air about me, but that is totally okay, because I judge you, too!!!   Seriously, I want to throw my greasy hamburger in their face and tell them to shove it.  My kids are awesome, healthy, happy, and enjoy life.  And I enjoy the things I do being their mom.  It is totally okay to: 1.   let my kids eat McDonald's french fries.  2.   let my children watch cartoons....right smack dab in front of the t.v.  3.  Allow them to drink  a late night polar pop!!  I believe this is Dr. Pepper. 4.  iPad games instead of story time at bed!! I don't care that these things...

Harbour Heights 5K review

Workout:  Shredding (cardio and weights) from Lindsay Brin -  Moms Into Fitness YAY!!!  I finally ran a race in 2015.  As much as I wasn't feeling it I knew I needed to get my butt out there and race once again.  I kept trying to creep my way out of the race - I don't have time, I'm not in shape, etc., but my husband was very insistent that I run.  I appreciate him for that! Pre Race Oh my word!  It was awful.  Orlando cried the entire time we were in the car because he wanted to go back to bed.  Listening to crying for 35 minutes first thing in the morning is torture!  Then, when we got to the race the parking lot was 1.4 miles away from the park!!  With 2 small children that is....well, not ideal.  They had 1 shuttle going back and forth, and the line to that was a mile long.  I still had to pick up my race packet and knew there was no way I would make it in time!  Thankfully, we had the stroller in the trunk ...
