Highlights from Vacation

Workout:  Undecided as of now.  Working out tonight when hubs gets home, and I can't decide if I am going to run or do pilates.

We were gone for 12 days in June taking a much needed family vacation.  We drove 18 HOURS to Ft. Myers, FL.  Actually, total drive time was 22.5 hours, but we stopped in southern IN on the way down and back to sleep!!  The kids did amazing and thankfully I have no nightmare stories to tell!!  We stayed with my sister and her family.  Just like old times;)  The week went waaaay too fast, and there is so much we didn't get to do.  But, we did have a great time.  Okay, so vacation highlights:

1.  Running!!!  I love to run on vacation.  I think it is just the change from my normal everyday scenery that makes it so enjoyable.  We were blessed with hot hot HOT weather, which is just what I wanted.  But, that also meant early morning runs were a must, feeling like you couldn't breathe was unavoidable, and diving into the pool was the only way to cool off!!

2.  Family!  While we were down there we were able to see my aunt and cousin that we haven't seen in 7 years!!  The last time I saw my cousin, Cole, he was in 3rd grade!!  Loved being able to visit with them.
My cousin, Cole, niece Grace, and Lyla.

3.  The beach!!  Matt and I were totally worried about this.  Orlando hates being outside - weird right?  The funny thing is when we lived in FL he hated being inside.  The first 10 minutes at the beach he wanted to go home which we knew would happen.  But it didn't take long for him to warm up, and he ended up having a blast.  YAY!!!

4.  Shelling!!  My sister and I woke up at 5:30 to go shelling on Sanibel Island.  Sanibel is the #1 shelling location in the U.S.  Low tide is the best time to shell so we had to get out there early!!  It was one of the most fun relaxing activities I have ever done!  We found tons of huge shells, but unfortunately,  almost everything was still alive.  I found quite a few sand dollars which was cool, but was most excited when I found the dead one.  I took him home and cleaned and bleached him right away.  He is still wrapped in bubble wrap, but I do have a cool photo of the live one I had to throw back into the water.

Watching a sand dollar breathe is really creepy.  Ugh!!  One of the best parts of shelling was being able to watch the sunrise!  Gorgeous!

That is my sister out there...not just some random person;))

None of us were ready to leave FL.  We got to see some good friends, the kids got to see some of their friends, and we were able to just relax, swim, and eat really good food everyday!!!  If only I made $$ as a stay at home mom, because then we could go back in August;)

Workout:  8 miles/1:25:02 It takes 9 months to put the weight on, and it took 9 months and 6 days to get the weight off.  FINALLY!!!!!!  I am at my pre-Orlando weight.  I gained 40 whopping pounds during my second pregnancy, and I am ecstatic to say that I have now lost 41.  I worked extremely hard to get that darn baby weight off, and there were several times I didn't think I was going to be able to do it.  Thankfully, my determination won in the end.  I have expressed before on my blog that I am not a healthy eater.  Junk food is my good friend, and fruits and veggies are evil gross!! (Okay, not ALL fruits, but pretty much ALL veggies are evil.) So how did I do it?  I cut out a lot of carbs.  Not completely, but I closely monitored my carb intake.  I limited my Coke and McDonald's Sweet Tea splurges and tried to drink these sugary beverages only on weekends.  I discovered Crystal Light Pink Lemonade which I drink during the week instead.  I stopped buying chips....complete

Pregnancy, Fitness, and Food

Workout:  None...yet.  But I might later.  Which is what I've been saying everyday for about the past 3 weeks!!! Hey, you all!!!!!  Guess who decided to reappear?!?!  And guess what I've been up to?  Just cooking up a little boy in this belly of mine! So, I'm 30 weeks pregnant, (31 according to the docs, but whatever) and NOTHING has gone as planned.  And when I say NOTHING I am referring to diet and exercise.  First, I had plans of running as long as I could.  My goal was to run to at least 32 - 34 weeks pregnant.  I made it to 6 weeks, folks.    6 WEEKS!!!  Then, the morning sickness hit, and it hit hard!!!!  I was sick all day and all night.  I was so crazy miserable.  And it didn't go away at the end of the first trimester.  It lasted a good 18 weeks!  Once I started feeling better I decided to just work on staying toned.  I was in the gym lifting weights about 3 days a week.  And that lasted an entire month!! That was a good month.  Pretty much the on

Kick Him in the Face REAL Hard!

Now, remember, this made the list of top 10 things I hate.  And wouldn't you know I now have to do a lot of it.  After weeks of insane knee pain I finally made an appointment to see a sports medicine doctor over at the Sports Enhancement Center.  Turns out I have severe tendonitis in my knee, being caused by my hamstring, due to lack of flexibility.  The doctor told me to quit running completely for a month, and he told me I was overweight.  (LOOOONG story about that.  Maybe I'll have a post on it sometime.)  I then proceeded to cry which caused a very awkward moment (more so for him than me...you should have seen the look on his face).  So three days after my post about hating stretching and cross training it's thrown right in my face.  I am stretching everyday and doing the elliptical for an hour every morning.  I have a race next weekend that I'm running even though the doctor said not to.  Going against the doctor's orders is my form of being rebellious!  I'
