Big 10!!

Workout:  None

Here are two facts about my husband - 1) He used to HATE running.  Totally hate!  2) He graduated from Indiana University.  He is one of the biggest Hoosier fans I know!

Matt started the couch to 5K running program this spring, and lucky for me he caught the running bug!!  In our search for his first 5K we came across the perfect race to be his first; the BTN Big 10K....except we ran the 5K;)
Sweatshirt in July....WHAT!!!

The race was in Chicago which was another plus.  Having lived in the city for 7 years we always enjoy going back to visit.  The race was held right along the shore line which made for a beautiful course!

So here we are, looking so adorable and happy, just before the start!  Matt didn't really have any expectations for his run, this being his first race and all.  I on the other hand was hoping to run well.  And by run well, I was looking to run around a 7:40 pace.  That was my goal for last months race which I totally tanked.  I had to redeem myself!

AND.....I didn't.  Not even close.  I know it is only 3.1 miles, but I hit a wall.  Call me a weenie, a BIG weenie to hit a wall in a 5K, but I did.  People talk about that wall in the marathon.  It turns out there is one in shorter distances, too.  I know this because I ran right into it at mile 2.2!!  I wanted to walk so so bad.  I hate that feeling of wanting to throw in the towel and quit, UGH!!!  Of course, I didn't.  I kept going.  But I felt awful!!

That smile is all fake; just for the camera.  Even though I didn't run well I still had a good time.  I was so excited for Matt that I didn't care too much about my crap race.

YAY!!!!  He finished!  Which is what I was mostly there for anyway-him:))

We got some fun post race goodies.  There was a huge tailgate party going on after, but we just wanted fun stuff to take home to the kids.  We snagged some great freebies at the IU tent, took tons of pictures with the Chicago skyline, and then just headed home.

Here are my final results:

Official time: 24:41 (7:57 pace)
Age place: 13 out of 448
Women: 56 out of 2515
Overall: 275 out of 4132

Matt ended up running a 27:07 which is amazing for a newbie!!  We have already signed up for another race to run together in just a few short weeks.  I just love that he is into the running thing now;)

Workout:  8 miles/1:25:02 It takes 9 months to put the weight on, and it took 9 months and 6 days to get the weight off.  FINALLY!!!!!!  I am at my pre-Orlando weight.  I gained 40 whopping pounds during my second pregnancy, and I am ecstatic to say that I have now lost 41.  I worked extremely hard to get that darn baby weight off, and there were several times I didn't think I was going to be able to do it.  Thankfully, my determination won in the end.  I have expressed before on my blog that I am not a healthy eater.  Junk food is my good friend, and fruits and veggies are evil gross!! (Okay, not ALL fruits, but pretty much ALL veggies are evil.) So how did I do it?  I cut out a lot of carbs.  Not completely, but I closely monitored my carb intake.  I limited my Coke and McDonald's Sweet Tea splurges and tried to drink these sugary beverages only on weekends.  I discovered Crystal Light Pink Lemonade which I drink during the week instead.  I stopped buying chips....complete

Pregnancy, Fitness, and Food

Workout:  None...yet.  But I might later.  Which is what I've been saying everyday for about the past 3 weeks!!! Hey, you all!!!!!  Guess who decided to reappear?!?!  And guess what I've been up to?  Just cooking up a little boy in this belly of mine! So, I'm 30 weeks pregnant, (31 according to the docs, but whatever) and NOTHING has gone as planned.  And when I say NOTHING I am referring to diet and exercise.  First, I had plans of running as long as I could.  My goal was to run to at least 32 - 34 weeks pregnant.  I made it to 6 weeks, folks.    6 WEEKS!!!  Then, the morning sickness hit, and it hit hard!!!!  I was sick all day and all night.  I was so crazy miserable.  And it didn't go away at the end of the first trimester.  It lasted a good 18 weeks!  Once I started feeling better I decided to just work on staying toned.  I was in the gym lifting weights about 3 days a week.  And that lasted an entire month!! That was a good month.  Pretty much the on

Kick Him in the Face REAL Hard!

Now, remember, this made the list of top 10 things I hate.  And wouldn't you know I now have to do a lot of it.  After weeks of insane knee pain I finally made an appointment to see a sports medicine doctor over at the Sports Enhancement Center.  Turns out I have severe tendonitis in my knee, being caused by my hamstring, due to lack of flexibility.  The doctor told me to quit running completely for a month, and he told me I was overweight.  (LOOOONG story about that.  Maybe I'll have a post on it sometime.)  I then proceeded to cry which caused a very awkward moment (more so for him than me...you should have seen the look on his face).  So three days after my post about hating stretching and cross training it's thrown right in my face.  I am stretching everyday and doing the elliptical for an hour every morning.  I have a race next weekend that I'm running even though the doctor said not to.  Going against the doctor's orders is my form of being rebellious!  I'
