Harbour Heights 5K review

Workout:  Shredding (cardio and weights) from Lindsay Brin - Moms Into Fitness

YAY!!!  I finally ran a race in 2015.  As much as I wasn't feeling it I knew I needed to get my butt out there and race once again.  I kept trying to creep my way out of the race - I don't have time, I'm not in shape, etc., but my husband was very insistent that I run.  I appreciate him for that!

Pre Race

Oh my word!  It was awful.  Orlando cried the entire time we were in the car because he wanted to go back to bed.  Listening to crying for 35 minutes first thing in the morning is torture!  Then, when we got to the race the parking lot was 1.4 miles away from the park!!  With 2 small children that is....well, not ideal.  They had 1 shuttle going back and forth, and the line to that was a mile long.  I still had to pick up my race packet and knew there was no way I would make it in time!  Thankfully, we had the stroller in the trunk and hiked our way to the park.  I jogged on over since I was seriously pressed for time!

Race

Now remember, I decided to take a break from running so I was coming into this race with zero training.  I was pretty confident I could pull off an 8:00-8:15 pace so that was my goal.

Mile 1 - 7:48.  I didn't mean to go that fast, but I felt really good.  So I decided to hang on to the pace.

Mile 2 - 7:50.  I still felt really good.  The course was getting really pretty, and it was just a good run.

Mile 3 - 7:56.  Ugh, I am sooooo mad at myself!!  I got nervous about just dying this mile since my first two miles were strong.  I kept thinking I was going to hit a wall, and so I was extremely cautious. I didn't push it this mile at all.  Went on total cruise control in fear of gassing out.

I have a slight smile on my face because I see my family!!  Rounding this corner is the home stretch.  I ran with this blond gal the entire last mile.  Look how close I am to her.  I didn't even try to pass her!!!  I just let the chick beat me - URGH!!!

Aaaaand, she is slipping away from me, and I am letting her.  I could just kick myself.  Especially since found out later she was in my age division!!

Mile .05 - :24.3.  This was an 8 minute pace.  Not only did I not push it in, but I slowed down!!  Also, notice my Garmin measured short.  That's a first!

Final Time - 24:01.

Official Results - 24:00

7th woman overall
3rd in age division (35-39)

I was really happy with how well I ran.  It helped that the course was nice, and it was a bit overcast.  I would also like to add that older woman rocked this race!  5 of the top 7 woman were 35 or over!!  That is crazy!  And pretty cool, too!  I'm back into running full force.  Just in time for the sweltering FL heat.  Yeah, it's pretty miserable;)  I'm looking for one more race to run before summer, and then I will probably take a bit of time off again!!

Workout:  8 miles/1:25:02 It takes 9 months to put the weight on, and it took 9 months and 6 days to get the weight off.  FINALLY!!!!!!  I am at my pre-Orlando weight.  I gained 40 whopping pounds during my second pregnancy, and I am ecstatic to say that I have now lost 41.  I worked extremely hard to get that darn baby weight off, and there were several times I didn't think I was going to be able to do it.  Thankfully, my determination won in the end.  I have expressed before on my blog that I am not a healthy eater.  Junk food is my good friend, and fruits and veggies are evil gross!! (Okay, not ALL fruits, but pretty much ALL veggies are evil.) So how did I do it?  I cut out a lot of carbs.  Not completely, but I closely monitored my carb intake.  I limited my Coke and McDonald's Sweet Tea splurges and tried to drink these sugary beverages only on weekends.  I discovered Crystal Light Pink Lemonade which I drink during the week instead.  I stopped buying chips....complete

Pregnancy, Fitness, and Food

Workout:  None...yet.  But I might later.  Which is what I've been saying everyday for about the past 3 weeks!!! Hey, you all!!!!!  Guess who decided to reappear?!?!  And guess what I've been up to?  Just cooking up a little boy in this belly of mine! So, I'm 30 weeks pregnant, (31 according to the docs, but whatever) and NOTHING has gone as planned.  And when I say NOTHING I am referring to diet and exercise.  First, I had plans of running as long as I could.  My goal was to run to at least 32 - 34 weeks pregnant.  I made it to 6 weeks, folks.    6 WEEKS!!!  Then, the morning sickness hit, and it hit hard!!!!  I was sick all day and all night.  I was so crazy miserable.  And it didn't go away at the end of the first trimester.  It lasted a good 18 weeks!  Once I started feeling better I decided to just work on staying toned.  I was in the gym lifting weights about 3 days a week.  And that lasted an entire month!! That was a good month.  Pretty much the on

Kick Him in the Face REAL Hard!

Now, remember, this made the list of top 10 things I hate.  And wouldn't you know I now have to do a lot of it.  After weeks of insane knee pain I finally made an appointment to see a sports medicine doctor over at the Sports Enhancement Center.  Turns out I have severe tendonitis in my knee, being caused by my hamstring, due to lack of flexibility.  The doctor told me to quit running completely for a month, and he told me I was overweight.  (LOOOONG story about that.  Maybe I'll have a post on it sometime.)  I then proceeded to cry which caused a very awkward moment (more so for him than me...you should have seen the look on his face).  So three days after my post about hating stretching and cross training it's thrown right in my face.  I am stretching everyday and doing the elliptical for an hour every morning.  I have a race next weekend that I'm running even though the doctor said not to.  Going against the doctor's orders is my form of being rebellious!  I'
